Join the Payne County Audubon Society for "Birds of the Lower Rio Grande Valley" with Jim Cowley at The Botanic Garden. Jim Cowley will talk about Birds of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. During migration, species from the Central and Mississippi flyway converge in the lower four counties of Texas known locally as the Lower Rio Grande Valley. In addition, the Valley is where four climates (temperate, desert, coastal and sub-tropical) converge and is considered one of the most biologically diverse regions in North America.

Yes, March is upon us this week and, though winter never fully releases its grip this early, the birds of spring are migrating, courting, and some are even nesting already! It’s a great time of year to get out and enjoy them. The PCAS will sponsor a great chance to do just that in a few weeks, as we take our next official field trip on March 24th to Lake Carl Blackwell:  https://paynecountyaudubonsociety.com/whats-new/.

The Payne County Audubon Society meetings include an evening presentation on the first Thursday of the month, usually followed by a field trip on the first Saturday, Unless otherwise advertised.

Schedule

  • April Meeting TBA: Presentations from 2016 Miller and Glover Award winners
  • Thursday, May 3: Evening bird walk at The Botanic Garden at OSU
